For your consideration we are offering for sale this Restored Circa 1927 Parker Duofold Junior Fountain Pen in Lapis with Blue on Blue color in celluloid. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, ultrasonically cleaned, put back together, and is now in wonderful writing condition.
This Blue on Blue Lapis color is known as a first-year model Junior Duofold in this color that first started production in 1927. In 1928 the Lapis Duofold had the White on Blue coloring, which is more commonly seen.
I have ultrasonically cleaned the NIB, feed, section, and NIB. Replaced the old sac with a new Silicone sac to help preserve the color. Hand polished the Gold Filled Parker Clip, Cap Banding, and 14K Duofold NIB. I have cleaned, buffed, and polished the barrel, blind cap and cap to bring back the vibrancy and to protect the celluloid of the fountain pen. This Parker Duofold is the Junior Size and measures 4 5/8" inches capped and 5 1/2" inches posted.
The fountain pen cap, barrel, and blind cap are in magnificent condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs. The Cap has a Gold Filled Parker Clip with PAT SEPT 5 - 16 stamped and has been polished to shine bright - there is no wear. The cap banding displays rich gold-filled color with no wear or brassing. The barrel has a somewhat worn imprint stamped with, "GEO. S. PARKER DUOFOLD FOUNTAIN PEN JANESVILLE, WIS LUCKY CURVE U.S.A. PAT 4-25-11". There are no monograms or personalizations on either the cap or barrel. The color of this Parker is exceptional with the scarce Blue of Blue pattern. No darkening of the material with very even coloring from cap to barrel.
This Junior Duofold has a button filling mechanism and I have tested it with water and fills as it should. Works fantastic and as designed.
Here is where this pen gets really interesting. The Parker Duofold NIB has a 14K Double Broad Left Oblique Point measuring 1.50mm when using a digital caliper. When writing a sample with this NIB, it will write with a medium to double broad stroke/line. In the writing sample provided, the medium line measures at .61mm on the horizontal strokes, and the double broad line measures at 1.70mm with medium pressure when measured with digital calipers. The Nib lays down a fantastic double broad smooth, wet line. The writing sample was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Montblanc Blue Ink.
This is an Iconic vintage Parker Duofold Fountain Pen in the Junior size. It is a scarce Duofold due to the 1st Year Blue on Blue pattern and the double broad oblique nib which makes for a rare collector-grade fountain pen. I would consider this Parker grade in Very Fine Condition. It is ready to write or just add it to your writing arsenal collection.
